EMC Events - It's fair time in Arnprior!

The 156th edition of the Arnprior Fair rolls out Aug. 5-8 and thanks to the hard work and dedication of the Arnprior Agricultural Society's volunteers, there will be many returning events as well as an extra day of fun this year. As always, the fair is being held at the fairgrounds on Galvin Street.

Currently, advance ride bands are on sale for $25 and are available at John's Variety and at B & B Buyback, both downtown Arnprior, and at Peebles in the Arnprior Shopping Centre. They remain on sale until Aug. 5.

Returning events this year include the agricultural exhibit, team penning, 4H shows, beef and dairy shows, the demolition derby, World's Finest Shows midway and other exhibits in the Exhibit Hall.

"It is in the spirit of adding new excitement to the Arnprior Fair that the directors are pleased to introduce new attractions this year. With the addition of a Thursday night line-up, be prepared to be dazzled by Edge Motorsports' thrill show. For the children and animal lovers, we have Bowmanville Zoo's Exotic Animal Shows. There is also going to be a bingo, 'Lunch Box - Deal or no Deal' for the kids, and so much more family entertainment to add to this year's fair," said Agricultural Society director Lynn Grinstead. "We are confident these events will be a fun part of the family entertainment at this year's fair."

Also new this year is the lawn tractor pull which will be held on the Sunday afternoon of the fair.

Music has always been a big part of the fair and this year is no different. Local performers scheduled to take the stage, which is sponsored by myFM, include Simon Clarke's A Touch of Class, Gamut, Catalyst and Gary Patrois. Making a return to the fair this year to headline the Friday night grandstand show is April Wine. The Canadian rockers last played the local fair in 2006.
