Help needed at Arnprior museum
Posted Jan 19, 2012 By Sherry HaaimaEMC News- The Arnprior and District Museum is looking for a volunteer to help speed up the process of digitizing the museum's records.
Volunteer Mike Donnelly has been busily working away for the past year and is making great strides, but with a recent major donation from the Gillies House, it's become clear that one or two more volunteers will be needed to make gains on the project.
Suitable candidates do not necessarily need to be computer savvy, says curator Janet Carlile. An interest in old items and a desire to help are all that's required.
Donnelly says the project is quite rewarding and he welcomes some help to work towards completing the big job.
"You come across some really interesting items," he says.
The completion of the digitization of the more than 10,000 items in the museum's collection will be a boon for the community and beyond as records will be available online for public searching.
Call 613-623-4902 or email jcarlile@arnprior.ca if interested in volunteering.
